When and Where are Family Photos Done?

I offer family photo sessions from March through October each year, but if you’re up for a winter adventure, I’ve been known to brave the cold for some incredible shots!
All family sessions take place outdoors at beautiful locations in and around Tri-Cities, WA, Benton City, Prosser, and even out to Walla Walla. To capture that perfect golden light, sessions are scheduled about two hours before sunset. I have a list of tried-and-true locations to recommend, but I’m always open to new spots if you have a special place in mind!

A little breeze can add beautiful movement and life to your photos, but when the wind gets too strong—especially for little ones—it can make things challenging. I want your family to feel comfortable, relaxed, and able to have fun. If the weather isn’t ideal, we’ll work together to reschedule as soon as possible. After all, happy kids and warm smiles make for the best photos!

I hear it all the time—moms worrying that their kids (or especially dad!) won’t cooperate during family photos. But I promise, it won’t be nearly as stressful as you think! I’ll gently guide your family through simple posing while also capturing natural movement, fun, and genuine connection. Even the most reluctant dads have walked away saying, “That wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected!”
To make the experience as smooth as possible, I send a prep guide with tips and tricks to help everyone feel relaxed and ready. I know how much effort goes into choosing outfits, coordinating colors, and making sure every detail is just right. You’ve done the hard work—now it’s time to enjoy it.
