Hey there!
Did you know that when you take a photo with your phone or camera, the camera actually puts a filter on the photo of what it thinks looks best? But when you hire a photographer to take your photos, we shoot in something called RAW format. This format takes in all the information in the scene, and allow the photographer to edit the information to their artistic view. Every photographer has their personal style. Some are considering “light and airy”, “dark and moody”, “warm”. I consider my style “true to color and timeless”. When you look at your photos in 10 years, you will be able to see what the weather was like, what color shirt everyone was wearing, and the love that was captured.

So you’re probably wondering what all that means for you. I’ll tell you. When I send you a proofing gallery, those are the pictures as they look straight out of my camera. I will adjust exposure and fix a few little things, but for the most part what you see is what came out of the camera.

Once you pick your favorites, then my magic happens.

Here are some before and afters of my editing so you have an idea of what your final gallery photos will look like.

On the left is the SOOC (straight out of camera) before and on the right is the edited after picture.
I brought up the exposure and shadows, and did some light retouching of the skin. The retouching is simple but does make a huge difference.

Some edits are fairly simple, but some are a lot more detailed as pictured below. With all photos I edit the lighting, exposure, and do light skin retouching. But some photos require more. Removal of blemishes, face swaps, editing angles, removing a whole person (thanks to this dad for creating this beautiful maternity photo), and newborn skin is more complicated. [This is also why these sessions are a little more expensive than family sessions- not only do they require special training for safely handling a newborn, props, wraps, etc., the editing takes a little more time].

I hope this gives you an idea of what to expect for your final images. Each photo session is unique depending on the location, lighting, time of day, weather. But each image is edited by myself and I take pride in the images I deliver.
If you have any questions at all, please reach out.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your family love and memories. I appreciate each and every one of you.
